The PLAY record cabinet is made for collectors who keep their records close to the equipment that plays them. With room for LP storage and a surface suited to audio gear, it works as a compact piece of LP furniture rather than a general sideboard with a music habit.

The cabinet combines natural FSC® wood with steel legs. Pastform does not use MDF or chipboard for this piece, which gives it a more durable basis for daily record storage. The cabinet measures 94 cm wide, 50 cm deep and 79 cm high, including the legs.

The open, practical layout makes it easy to organize vinyl, browse sleeves and keep frequently played records within reach. Its retro line is restrained enough for a listening room, living room or studio corner, while the construction is clearly aimed at regular use.

Key details:

  • Made from natural FSC® wood, without MDF or chipboard.
  • Steel legs for a stable, elevated profile.
  • Designed for vinyl storage and audio equipment.
  • Delivered as a fully assembled furniture piece.

For collectors who want a record cabinet with less visual noise and more practical intent, PLAY keeps the setup clear: records below, equipment above, music within easy reach.

FAQs PLAY record cabinet – solid wood LP storage

How many records fit in the PLAY record cabinet?

The PLAY holds approximately 90 LPs. The usable capacity may be lower when many records have thick gatefold sleeves or outer protective covers.

What are the dimensions of the PLAY LP cabinet?

It measures 94 cm wide, 50 cm deep and 79 cm high, including the steel legs. These dimensions provide a working-height top for audio equipment with upright record storage below.

Can I place a turntable on the PLAY cabinet?

Yes. The top surface is intended for a turntable or other audio equipment. Compare the deck footprint with the 94 × 50 cm top and allow rear clearance for cables and the open dust cover.

View more questions Hide questions

How are the records stored?

LPs are kept upright in an open compartment that makes sleeves easy to see and browse. Avoid overfilling the section so records can be removed without rubbing the jackets.

Which materials are used?

The cabinet is made from natural FSC-certified wood without MDF or chipboard and stands on steel legs. This combination gives the record storage a solid wood body with an elevated base.

Which finishes can I choose?

The PLAY is available in several Pastform wood colours. A free sample kit can be requested so the finish can be checked under the lighting and colours of the intended room.

Does the record cabinet require assembly?

No. The PLAY is delivered fully assembled. Check that the 94 × 50 × 79 cm cabinet can pass through the complete delivery route before arrival.

What are the lead time, customisation and warranty terms?

Standard production and delivery take approximately eight to twelve weeks. Made-to-measure options can be discussed, indoor carrying is available in the listed countries, and the cabinet has a two-year warranty.

Collection FAQs

How do I choose the right record cabinet for the size of my collection?

Count your LPs, then choose a record cabinet with enough capacity for the records you own now and some unused space for future purchases. Measure the available width, height and depth, including room for doors, drawers, cables and ventilation. Also decide whether the cabinet must support a turntable, amplifier or television; the AllVinyl collection can be filtered by capacity, dimensions and space for audio equipment.

How many LPs fit in a record cabinet, and why can the stated capacity vary?

Capacity figures are approximate because gatefold albums, box sets, outer sleeves and dividers occupy more space than standard single sleeves. A useful estimate is around 10–12 conventionally sleeved LPs per 3 cm, but records should not be packed so tightly that they are difficult to remove. AllVinyl models range from around 60 LPs per Kiyo compartment to 260 in the listed MOEBE configuration, 350 in the LOIA Digger and more than 400 in Plyphonic Model A.

How much extra record storage should I allow for a growing vinyl collection?

A sensible planning margin is approximately 20–30% above your current collection. Someone with 200 LPs should therefore consider record storage for roughly 240–260 records rather than buying a cabinet that is full on arrival. For collections that grow unpredictably, modular systems such as Kiyo and MOEBE can be rearranged or expanded instead of being replaced.

View more questions Hide questions

Can I place my turntable on top of the record cabinet?

Yes, provided the top is sufficiently large, level, rigid and rated for the weight of the turntable. Compare the turntable footprint with the usable surface and leave room for the dust cover, power lead and audio cables. Turntable manufacturer Pro-Ject advises placing a turntable on a level surface; AllVinyl models explicitly intended for turntable use include GRAM, PLAY, Curtis and LOIA Le Meuble Digger.

Which record cabinets also have space for an amplifier and other audio equipment?

Look for compartments with sufficient internal width, depth, height and load capacity—not merely a shelf that looks large enough in a photograph. GRAM has a middle shelf intended for an amplifier, LOIA Le Meuble Digger has open equipment shelves rated up to 14 kg each, and KRON has a central area with cable openings for an amplifier or streamer. MOEBE provides adjustable open shelving, while the Plyphonic models integrate amplification and other audio equipment into the furniture itself.

Do the cabinets include cable management and sufficient ventilation for audio equipment?

This differs by model. LOIA Le Meuble Digger has an open rear and adjustable cable grommets, MOEBE has open sides and backs, and KRON includes cable openings in its central equipment section. LOTV Vinyl Slide also has cable openings, but equipment placed behind closed doors must still have the clearance required by its manufacturer. Denon, for example, recommends around 15 cm above and 5 cm at either side of its AV receivers and warns against blocking their upper vents.

What is the difference between open record storage, closed cabinets and pull-out record drawers?

Open vinyl storage makes the collection easy to see and browse and generally provides better airflow around audio equipment, although records remain more exposed to dust and light. Closed cabinets create a quieter visual arrangement and reduce everyday dust exposure, but access and equipment ventilation require more attention. Front-browsing compartments and pull-out storage make it easier to flip through covers; GRAM and Curtis are designed around browsing access, while LOTV Vinyl Slide combines vertical LP storage with sliding-door compartments.

How should record cabinets store LPs vertically or horizontally, and which record cabinets do it properly?

LPs should be stored vertically, on edge, with enough lateral support to prevent them from leaning. Long-term horizontal stacks place unnecessary weight on the lower records and should not be the main storage method. Both the Canadian Conservation Institute and NEDCC recommend vertical storage for disc media. AllVinyl designs that explicitly provide supported vertical or angled storage include Curtis, the Sinfonic Audio cabinet, Kiyo’s 33 × 33 × 33 cm compartments, LOTV Vinyl Slide and the adjustable MOEBE system.

Are the record cabinets modular, expandable or available in custom dimensions and finishes?

Some are. Kiyo can be reconfigured and extended with additional modules, while MOEBE can grow in both width and height. Display LUNA also uses a modular construction. For made-to-order LP furniture, Sinfonic Audio offers a selectable number of compartments and alternative woods, Curtis can be adapted through custom work, and Plyphonic models are produced to order in selected finishes.

Do the cabinets arrive assembled, and what should I check before delivery?

Delivery and assembly depend on the maker. Kiyo arrives flat-packed and uses a tool-free magnetic connection system; MOEBE requires self-assembly; Display LUNA includes instructions and the necessary tools. Pastform models such as PLAY, LOTV, KRON and GRAM arrive assembled and include indoor delivery in the listed countries, while LOIA Le Meuble Digger is delivered ready-made on a pallet. Before ordering, measure doorways, corridors, stairs, lifts and tight corners, and check whether delivery is to the front door, inside the home or on a pallet.
