German maker KIUBIQ creates furniture designed to adapt along the way. Its simple system of wooden modules can be used to create flexible vinyl storage, from a single record box to a complete modular record shelving system. Plywood, visible construction and clean proportions give the furniture a calm, architectural character. From carpenter and architect to furniture maker

KIUBIQ began in 2019 with a practical design question. Founder Mino Lichtenberg, trained as both a carpenter and architect, was looking for a flexible system that would allow a vehicle to function alternately as a mobile office, leisure vehicle and camper. Existing plastic Euro containers and toolboxes were practical, but lacked the flexibility and appearance he was looking for.

This led to the development of a modular system of wooden boxes. The concept soon extended beyond vehicles to homes, workshops and other spaces. The underlying principle remained the same: use a limited number of carefully designed components to create as many applications as possible.

A modular system that grows with you

The strength of KIUBIQ lies in its grid. Individual wooden modules can be stacked, rotated and combined, so the final piece of furniture is not permanently fixed.

That principle makes particular sense for vinyl collectors. A smaller collection might require only one or two modules, while additional units can later turn the same system into a larger record shelf or an entire wall of vinyl storage. If the room changes, the modules can simply be rearranged.

KIUBIQ for records and LPs

KIUBIQ has developed a dedicated record box with internal dimensions of approximately 330 × 330 × 340 mm. It is designed for upright storage of 12-inch records, including LPs kept in protective outer sleeves. A single module holds approximately 70 records.

Stack several boxes together and they become a modular record shelving system. LPs remain upright, visible and easy to reach when browsing through your collection. The modules can also be incorporated into a larger sideboard or piece of audio furniture.

Plywood and made in Germany

KIUBIQ deliberately uses a restrained palette of materials. Its record boxes are made from plywood. The layered plywood edges remain visible and become part of the design rather than something to conceal.

Design and production take place in Germany, with products manufactured in small batches using European materials. The result is straightforward furniture in which material, construction and form work together.

KIUBIQ's architectural background is easy to recognise. Proportion, repetition and a consistent grid take precedence over decorative details. One wooden box is simple; combine several and an entire piece of furniture begins to emerge.
